Thursday, February 23rd, 2012

I’m starting to really enjoy corn tortillas, especially when I make everything for the taco myself! Yum.

After coming across Jim’s awesome pancakes, I thought I would attempt one for Desi. My turtle turned out okay.

Sophie’s Baptism

Monday, May 31st, 2010

We had a lovely weekend. Cousins visited, played wii, baptised Sophie, had a wonderful party with beautiful cupcakes from Bakery Gingham & food from Weiland’s Gourmet Market and tasty pulled pork Walker made, played at the park, ate popsicles, watched movies and went to Cosi and a birthday party. So much fun!

Mario Cake

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

We made a Mario cake tonight. What fun! Desi loved it. I did do a speedy job; I thought it was going to take forever, but from cake mixing to eating took two hours. Not bad!

Two Kids and Cookies

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

The other morning I was playing classical music from my favorite radio station, 89.7. It is one of my favorite memories of going to visit my grandma and grandpa, they always had classical music floating around in their house. I was also in the mood to make cookies and thought of Sopressata’s cranberry oatmeal pecan cookies. I had to make a few substitutes, such as dried cherries and cranberries from my trail mix bag, milk chocolate chips separated from a bag of chocolate and mint chocolate chips I got on clearance after Christmas (which added a very light hint of mint to them) and walnuts. All in all, a great combo, and I used my Kitchen-Aid mixer which I am very happy to have but haven’t used too much yet.

And another of my favorite combos:

Rose Bakery Desserts

Monday, March 2nd, 2009

I was invited to a party yesterday that was in a beautiful location (an old church converted into a home) and had the most beautiful and delicious tarts. It was obvious much love had been put into the food preparation! All of the recipes were from Breakfast, Lunch, Tea: The Many Little Meals of Rose Bakery. My favorite was a sweet little blueberry and lemon tart that melted away in your mouth! I wish I had brought my camera, everything was so pretty! Walking up the steps to the home reminded me of a small church Walker & I visited during our honeymoon on The Big Island - St. Benedict’s Painted Church. Those warm breezes would feel so nice right now.

Valentine’s Eve Dessert Party

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

Since Valentine’s Day was on a Saturday this year, I thought it would be fun to host a dessert & champagne punch party the night before. I made an assortment of pink or heart shaped desserts. I think the best thing I made though, was a heart chandelier made of wax paper hearts. It turned out so pretty.

Lots of pink on the table!

Coconut-Milk Pudding Rolls

Monday, December 1st, 2008

I made these coconut milk pudding rolls and they turned out delicious! I was worried since I don’t really like coconut, but the coconut milk just made a delicious pudding on the bottom. A bit sweet, but I like sweet. Just one of the reasons I love my Sunset magazine subscription.
